The Final Days

Jonah gave a silly stare at the television screen. Nothing in the world could have been more unbelievable. His mind kept wondering whether what he had heard was true. He quickly glanced at the calendar sitting atop the television. It certainly wasn't April the first. He wished he wasn't so alone, so that he could ask his companion to confirm what he heard and understood. Nevertheless, the newscaster kept going on on the same story. There seem to be no doubt about it. It all seem so surreal that even though the implications of the news was far more than anything humankind had encountered, there seem not to be any sign of panic. Strange though it seemed, the confirmed news that an asteroid roughly half the size of Australia was on a collision course with Earth hardly raised any significant panic. After all, everybody had a good eighteen months to plan and prepare for their safety.
