Design Philosophy
The World Wide Web is an excellent and economical way to advertise one's presence, be it for business, for contacts or just giving your opinion. However, because of this too, it is also less efficient compared to other direct methods of advertising. Consider that anyone can create a website which will not cost them the moon. Hence it is not surprising that there are numerous websites out there, with more cropping up everyday.
The trick is getting people to visit your site. The more traffic your website gets, the better the exposure your products and ideas get. How do you get people to visit your site? In a nutshell, these are the most important features your website should posess:-
  1. Content: Content is king. Full stop. If the website has no useful content, then it will not generate any traffic. If the website contains outdated information, that too will turn visitors away. Who would want to find out about somebody who is out of touch with the current affairs?

  2. User-friendly navigation: A website which doesn't help its visitors find the important data they are looking for will have failed in its intention. For this navigational cues and guides are awfully important. However, one must balance having pedantic navigation against little or no navigational aids.

  3. System friendly: It is often wonderful to have the latest bells and whistles to spice up your website. However, if you are in a hurry (most people pay for connection by the minute) you would spend your time waiting for huge graphics to download. Why reduce the chances of higher hit-rates? We like simple easy to read and easy to download designs. We try to make minimal use of graphics in order to speed up the page retrieval times. Having said that no graphics make a page quite boring to read. There is a balance. Correct use of colours in text and tables enable the experience to be a little more fun.
However, we are no experts of taste, so every step is a learning process. In the meantime enjoy the experience!
